Cut away view of a hollow planet.

A hollow planet is, as implied, hollow. Sometimes they form that way. Other times the core nearly explodes but instead parts collapse and dissolve due to many factors including physics, gravity, and technology. This results in a hollow planet. Most of the time the planet is only left partially hollow. It ranks as Type 12 on the Planetary Classification scale.
